Thus, the question arises as to whether the inevitable rise of Internet-connected home and industrial devices, meaning the Internet of Things (IoT) have the need of data recovery services<\/strong> as well, and will it see the same rise. Before we delve into it, let\u2019s understand what IoT is.<\/p>\n

What is about Internet of Things (IoT)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Stylised as Internet of Things (or IoT), it is the interconnection of everyday \u2018things\u2019 such as vehicles, buildings, and other devices embedded with software, electronics, actuators, sensors with Internet connectivity enabling them to send and receive data, which collect and exchange data. Here, each of the interconnected devices has a flash memory to save data. And, as each device has a unique ID, data can be easily shared with other devices, (the so-called thing-to-thing communication), the manufacturer, and the user.<\/p>\n

The IoT is an internetwork of connected \u2018things\u2019, which also includes people. The connectivity will be in three ways such as people-people, people-things, and things-things.<\/span> Here, \u2018things\u2019 get sensed and\/or controlled automatically via remote access across the network and intervention by people is considerably reduced. Thus, it creates possibilities for direct integration of the physical world with everyday devices into computer-based systems. With this, you will be able to perform daily activities in a more efficient, accurate, and economical result because of reduced human intervention.<\/p>\n

The IoT is a hugely diversified technology and various things such as heart monitors, home appliances, cars or other vehicles, thermostats, lights, etc. can be in the network. In fact, the possibilities are endless.<\/p>\n

Applications and Advantages<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The IoT can bring along with it countless benefits, and it is basically because of the exchange of data among the devices that make things automated. The technology gives a high standard of living with comfort, safety, and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n

These smart objects have different applications and distributed into five groups such as Smart Wearable, Smart House, Smart City, Smart Enterprise, and Smart Environment.<\/p>\n

The Smart Wearables group consists of advanced clothes and accessories. For instance, a T-shirt could have built-in sensors monitoring your blood pressure, heartbeat, pulse rate, or a contact lens for diabetics measuring the level of blood sugar<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The Smart Houses could use smart devices to make life comfortable at home. For instance, the thermostat could be coupled to any weather station for the regulation of temperature in the house efficiently. Also, the IoT could be in lighting, security, audio, and another system of your house. There could be endless possibilities with each device of your house.<\/p>\n

Next, the IoT could also help develop a Smart City with the installation of advanced traffic plan, smart traffic lights and self-operational transport. The Smart Environment group could ensure the use of less energy (energy conservation) and manage waste in a better way. It could also help in understanding natural phenomena such as hurricanes, tsunami, flood, earthquakes, etc. and predict them much in advance.<\/p>\n

With the Smart Enterprise group, it may be possible to provide companies with smart inventory tracking, supply chain optimization, fleet tracking, etc. This, in turn, would provide tremendous gains to enterprises. <\/em><\/p>\n

Effect of IoT Implementation on Data <\/strong><\/h4>\n

According to a report by IBM, tonnes of data produced every day throughout the world. Currently, it is about 2.5 Quintilian bytes per day. With IoT, this number will increase considerably. For example, in 2009 there were about 0.9 billion smart objects, which is going to touch 26 billion by 2020. The more the use of this technology, the more will be the data produced. This development will thus bring along with it several challenges such as reduced privacy, the danger of hacking, and data loss.<\/p>\n
