There aren\u2019t many choices when it comes to choosing storage for SOHO \/ consumer NAS units. Seagate soon realized that they have a good chance to increase HDD sales in the NAS segment. This is the reason they jumped into this segment by introducing their new NAS hard disk drives<\/a>. The Seagate NAS HDD is specifically designed for NAS boxes with one to five bays. These drives feature performance, reliability, and come in multiple capacities (up to 4 TB).<\/p>\n

The Seagate hard drive<\/a> will have a spindle speed of 5900rpm, a cache buffer of 64 MB, and a Serial ATA-6 Gb\/s spindle speed. These drives will feature low power consumption of 4.3W \u2013 4.8W and sustained data transfer rate of 159 MB\/s (for 2 TB model) and 180MB\/s (for 3 TB and 4 TB models). The drives will take advantage of the embedded NASWorks technology that provides vibration tolerance, power management, and extended error recovery controls.<\/p>\n

Seagate\u2019s NAS drives bring to you a 10% increase in performance over the competition for 24\/7 NAS applications. These hard drives are the best fit for always on applications. They give you the ability to stream multiple HD videos and support multiple user profiles. These drives will be known for their silent acoustics having a range much less than that of the audible sound for a human ear. This characteristic makes them suitable for the home or SMB environment.<\/p>\n
