You can get a list of all the disks connected to your system, select the disk, and format the selected disk. Here\u2019s how you can do it:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Launch a command prompt as an admin.<\/li>\n<li>Type <strong>diskpart <\/strong>and hit<strong> Enter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Type<strong> list disk <\/strong>and hit This will enlist all the connected disks with their respective disk number. An example of the list is given below: <strong>a)<\/strong> Disk 0\u00a0<strong>b)<\/strong> Disk 1\u00a0<strong>c)<\/strong> Disk 2.<\/li>\n<li>Type select disk followed by the <strong>disk number<\/strong> of the disk you want to format. For example, <strong>select disk 1.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Make sure that you don\u2019t make a mistake while selecting the disk as the next command will take action on the selected disk.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Type <strong>clean<\/strong> and hit <strong>Enter<\/strong>. This will erase all the data on the selected disk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Until this step, we\u2019ve just erased the existing partition and formatting from the disk, but haven\u2019t formatted it yet.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Type <strong>create part pri<\/strong> and hit <strong>Enter<\/strong> to create a primary partition on the disk.<\/li>\n<li>Then, type <strong>active<\/strong> and hit Enter to mark the partition as active.<\/li>\n<li>Type <strong>format FS=fat32 label=Pendrive<\/strong> quick and hit <strong>Enter<\/strong>. This will format your drive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Where:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>fat32<\/strong> is the file system I want my drive to be formatted with. Likewise, you can enter any other file system such as NTFS for your drive.<br \/>\n<strong>Pendrive<\/strong> is the label that I gave to my drive. You can choose any other name of your choice.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>To assign a drive letter, type <strong>assign letter=Y,<\/strong> and hit <strong>Enter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Y is the letter that I\u2019ve assigned. You can choose any other letter.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Lastly, type <strong>exit<\/strong> and hit <strong>Enter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are able to format the drive and hence have deleted your data, you can still get it back from the formatted drive.
