Sometimes, you found AirDrop not working when you need to use it.\u00a0 \u00a0If AirDrop is not working on your Mac or on an iOS device, read this blog to fix the issue.<\/p>\n<h3>Prerequisites to Transfer Files by Using AirDrop<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure that the iOS devices are running on iOS 7 or later version<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the Mac device is a 2012 or newer model running on OS X Yosemite or later version<\/li>\n<li>Keep the devices within 30 feet of distance from each other<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned ON and <em>Personal Hotspot<\/em> is turned OFF on both the devices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Some Quick Fixes<\/h3>\n<p>You can try below-given fixes to resolve minor issues that are causing the problem in sending\/receiving files through AirDrop.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unplug LAN cable connected to your Mac device (if connected).<\/li>\n<li>Restart both sending and receiving devices.<\/li>\n<li>Exit from Airplane mode (if enabled) as it turns OFF the wireless connectivity, preventing AirDrop to work.<\/li>\n<li>If your device is in <em>Do Not Disturb<\/em> mode, it would be undiscoverable and would NOT be able to receive files. Hence, make sure that the device at receiving end is not in <em>Do Not Disturb<\/em><\/li>\n<li>A device in sleep mode is not visible to devices trying to send files. So, make sure that the recipient device is awake.<\/li>\n<li>Re-enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your Mac or iOS devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0[FIXED]: AirDrop Is Not Working<\/h2>\n<h3>Method 1: Check If the Receiving Device Is Discoverable<\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019re having trouble in receiving files via AirDrop, check the visibility settings of your device. There are three options on discovery settings that decide the visibility of your device:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Off: <\/strong>If you choose \u201cOff\u201d on your device\u2019s visibility settings, no sender would be able to find your device and hence won\u2019t be able to send to you files via AirDrop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contacts Only: <\/strong>If this option is enabled, only the senders who are added to \u201cContacts\u201d in your iCloud account would be able to see your device as an AirDrop destination.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyone: <\/strong>Selecting this option makes your device visible to all the Apple devices.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if you\u2019re having issues in transferring files via Airdrop, ensure that the recipient is either set to be visible to \u201cContacts Only\u201d or \u201cEveryone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s see how can we check and change the discoverability settings on Mac and iOS devices.<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 180px;\" width=\"824\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"623\"><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><em>[IMPORTANT]:<\/em><\/strong> <em>If the receiving Mac or iOS device is configured to be visible to \u201c<strong>Contacts Only<\/strong>\u201d, both the sender and receiver must be <strong>signed-in to iCloud<\/strong> to transfer files to the recipient.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><em>It\u2019s recommended to set the device to receive files from \u201c<strong>Everyone<\/strong>\u201d to <strong>avoid issues<\/strong> with device visibility.
