Deleted Video Footage Recovered From Corrupted SSD at Stellar – Nehru Place

Table of Content

For a professional videographer, storage media like hard drives and CFexpress cards are more than just a way to store things digitally. They are a testimony to their hard work and creativity and also a means to secure their trustworthiness. So, whenever professional photographers and videographers face sudden data loss, they need the best chances of recovery. And that’s why they contact Stellar Data Recovery—where we successfully recover data for hundreds of such clients every month.

Recently, we handled a case where a panic-stricken creative agency accidentally deleted video footage they had just filmed. A production company could miss deadlines, let clients down, and even lose money if it accidentally loses data. Losing unique video footage could even send the business into a downward spiral.

The Situation

Our client, a professional photo and video production company in Delhi, is well known for their unique stories and high-quality photos and videos and is trusted by businesses and high-end brands across North India.

The client accidentally deleted video footage of a corporate event that had just been filmed. The lost data included raw video clips, drafts of projects, and edited sequences—all stored in a 1 TB external SSD. All these files were very important for ongoing projects.

They tried to get back the data with data recovery software available online. But this made things worse. During the DIY recovery attempt, the sectors that had been deleted were reassigned and the partition table got modified. And even though some of the video files looked like they were back, none of them worked.

The production company contacted Stellar for professional SSD data recovery because they were worried about losing important data.

The Challenge

The problem did not end at accidental deletion. What made the case complex was (a) data corruption, (b) multiple attempts by the client to recover data using video recovery software, and (c) corrupted partition table. That’s when Stellar Data Recovery – Nehru Place stepped in.

Stellar’s Approach to Recover Data From 1 TB SSD

  • Before scanning the SSD to look for deleted data, our experienced technicians created a cloned copy and stored it on a donor drive. Data cloning is a vital step to ensure that the original drive does not suffer any more damage.
  • During initial scans, we found that the directory structure was broken and the file metadata was corrupt. The folder that the client required was not visible. They had requested certain videos recorded with a Sony α7S III (ILCE-7SM3) camera on a particular date.
  • Since it was hard to identify the required data, we used proprietary software tools and optimized hardware to find and reconstruct the original directory structure.
  • After root-level deep scanning, we identified the required contents manually using camera model, date & time, and other metadata information.
  • We carefully extracted the data we needed. But most of the video recordings were either blurry or broken. We used our advanced video repair tool to fix them.

Final Result

The end result was a complete success. All of the repaired videos were playable and editable. Our client was happy because they got their important footage back and could continue with their project without any more delays.

Summing Up

For more than 30 years, Stellar Data Recovery has helped people get back lost data. Our engineers and technicians have the experience, expertise, and highest-grade tools to handle even the most complex of cases.
